When we consider the cost of therapy, there is a financial cost, an emotional cost, and an opportunity cost. These amounts vary across the field. Here’s how we break ours down.
Individual sessions = $150.00 per 50 minute session.
Couples/Family/Dyad sessions = $165 per 60 minutes
Hope Heal Change Counseling works independently of insurance. Here’s why…
Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis.
- Counselors that work with insurance companies essentially work for the insurance companies.
- This does not mean that there are not incredible counselors that accept insurance. However, for those counselors, a diagnosis is required for them to be paid.
- Basically, at Hope Heal Change, we do not believe that a person should be boiled down to, defined or labeled by a diagnosis.
- In short, we want to work for you, not an insurance company.
You should be the one in control of your therapy!
- I do not believe that an insurance company should dictate what your therapy looks like, how frequent or infrequent you should be treated and what methods are best for you.
- When a counselor submits a mental health diagnosis, a certain amount of sessions will be allocated by the insurance company; sometimes not meeting the needs of a presenting concern.
- You should decide what your treatment looks like.
Confidentiality and Privacy.
- Because the insurance company retains my diagnosis, my notes and plan of treatment, these items will remain on your medical record and could affect you in the future.
- Counseling is a place to privately explore any facet of life without fear of being judged or put in a box.
- Confidentiality is a key ingredient to effective therapy.
Value
- As private-pay counselors, we generally see less clients than a counselor who takes insurance.
- We regulate our caseload to make sure that we feel fresh and engaged with each and every client/session.
To use your insurance for help with sessions, we can print you out a bill. That bill can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement. It is common for providers to pay a percentage of private-pay services. Regardless, payment for services is due on the date of the appointment.
