**Hope Heal Change Counseling works independently of insurance. Here’s why…

Insurance companies REQUIRE a mental health diagnosis.  Counselors that work with insurance companies essentially work FOR the insurance companies.  This does NOT mean that there are not incredible counselors that accept insurance.  However, for those counselors, a diagnosis is required to be reimbursed.  This does not sit well with me as I do not believe that a person should be boiled down, defined or labeled by a diagnosis.  Furthermore, insurance companies have the right to access any of my notes regarding a client’s case. In short, I WANT TO WORK FOR YOU, NOT AN INSURANCE COMPANY.

  • You should be the one in control of your therapy! I do not believe that an insurance company should dictate what YOUR therapy looks like, how frequent or infrequent you should be treated and what methods are best for you.  When a counselor submits a mental health diagnosis, a certain amount of sessions will be allocated by the insurance company; often not meeting the needs of a presenting concern. You should decide what your treatment looks like.
  • Confidentiality and Privacy.  So now that an insurance company has a diagnosis, my notes and plan of treatment, can I really say that your treatment is confidential? No.  These are items that will remain on your medical record and could affect you in the future. The amazing thing about counseling is that it’s a place to privately explore any facet of life without fear of being judged or put in a box. Confidentiality is a key ingredient to effective therapy.
  • Value. As a private-pay counselor, I generally see less clients than a counselor who takes insurance.  I regulate my case-load to a point where I feel fresh and engaged with each and every client/session.  I understand where my limits are and promise to offer you the attention you need for effective therapy.

Individual sessions = $150.00 per 50 minute session.

Couples/Family/Dyad sessions = $165 per 60 minutes

**If you’d like to use your insurance for help with sessions, I can print you out a bill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. It is common for providers to pay a percentage of private-pay services. However, payment for services is due on the date of the appointment.
